Several aspects have not been taken into account in the understanding of the phenomenon of the creation of musical works regarding the experiences lived by composers, such as the experience of freedom and the experience of limits or determinisms during the creative process. This article analyzes these two human phenomena (freedom and determinisms) in 3 composers from the Colombian Caribbean through the phenomenological method, which seeks to understand realities whose nature and structure depend on the people who live and experience them, and which are determinant for the understanding of the psychic life of each person (Martínez, 2009), and it was found that although the composer needs to confront a whole series of determinisms which start from the same limitations of musical language, which in its structure manages its own rules, he can nevertheless experience an important degree of freedom, reflected in the way they relate to these limits, and in the ability they have to know that they are also the ones who are determined. It is concluded that creativity arises in them from this tension between their own spontaneity and limitations.
