En la campaña 2007-08, con la plantilla principal en Segunda División después de 40 años, Martínez comenzó a competir como profesional. Jugó su primer partido de liga el 26 de agosto de 2007 en una derrota en casa por 2-0 ante el CD Castellón,[1] y marcó su primer gol el 25 de noviembre de ese año para ayudar a los locales a vencer al Málaga CF por 3-0.[2]
