El barrio Almeda siempre ha estado íntimamente ligado a la institución que mes l’ha representado por tot arreu: El Centro Social Almeda. Las actividades que realizaba eran muy diversas. Es muntaven excursiones; es feien cursos de sardanas; editaven la revista “El Carrilet”; es feien activitats esportives.
En la temporada 2012/2013 el infantil femenino se clasificó en 3ª posición en el Campionat. de Catalunya Nivell A1 y consiguió el 4º puesto en el Campionat d’Espanya, en Lanzarote, disputándose estos ya con el formato de 32 equipos, el que realiza encara más el valor del que se ha conseguido.

The men’s team played 4 seasons in the EBA league, the last one in 2007-2008 where they bought the place to ESPLUGUES, since 2008-2009 they play the COPA CATALUNYA, since 1995 they have been linked to CLUB BASQUET SANT JOSEP DE GIRONA.
During this decade, became famous the summer tournament where teams from the stores of Arenys participated.  An example is the photo of the old Calopa Tailoring where we see the Calopa brothers, Estrada, Blanchar, Manolo, Manresa and Juan Mola.
In today’s competition, the sporting level of the teams is very high, and in order to be able to compete in adequate conditions, we have been forced to provide ourselves with an efficient structure and organization.  For this reason, under the tutelage of the board of directors, the club has been organized on two levels.  The first corresponds to the area of training and promotion and the second is formed by the larger teams that compete at both provincial and Catalan level.
Already in the season 82/83 the Basketball Sports Union, was integrated into a global project of the neighborhood organized by AAVV and schools Camí del Mig, Torre Llauder, as was EIE (Schools of sports initiation).  A coordination of entities was set up with the presence of Mr. Francisco León, member of the AAVV, and orange was already being used as the symbolic color of the Plan d’en Boet neighborhood.

The facilities are closed for sports practice, training and competitions are stopped for now, but from the Sports Club we continue working to start up with strength the day that normality returns!
