At the time of the merger of Deloitte and Touche (in 1989), the name of the international firm was a problem, because there was no access to the world’s exclusive “Deloitte” or “Ross Touche” names – key Deloitte member firms, such as in the UK and Ross Touche in Australia had not joined the merger. The name DRT International was therefore chosen to refer to Deloitte, Ross and Tohmatsu. In 1993, the firm was renamed Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu International to reflect the contribution of the Japanese firm. [5], as well as the agreements to use both the Deloitte and Touche brand.
