María Teresa Mallada has a PhD in Mining Engineering from the University of Uviéu. She also studied an Official Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering at the University Alfonso X el Sabiu, an Official Master’s Degree in Occupational Risk Prevention at the University Camilo José Cela and an Official Master’s Degree in Business Administration and Management at the European University.[4] She has a degree in Environmental Engineering from the University Alfonso X el Sabiu.
From February 2012 to June 2018, María Teresa Mallada was president of Hunosa, being the newest person and first woman to hold this position. She is also a member of Hunosa’s board of directors representing the General Board.
María Teresa Mallada founded the New Generations of the People’s Party of Asturias in her home town (Ayer), being president and councilor of the same in the town council and deputy territorial secretary of the party.
In the 2011 elections to the General Council of the Principality of Asturias she occupied the ninth position on the list of the Partido Popular for the central constituency.[1] In January 2019 she was nominated as candidate for the presidency of Asturias.

Outside Hunosa, María Teresa Mallada is Associate Professor in the Department of Business Administration at the University of Oviedo. She was also General Counsel of Liberbank[9] and President of the Sociedad Asturiana de Diversificación Minera (Sadim) and the Sociedad para el Desarrollo de las Comarcas Mineras (Sodeco).
