Are you afraid of the dark

Not being able to visualize dangersFear of the dark is a natural reaction of the evolution of human beings as they are at a disadvantage against nocturnal predators because they lose visual capacity without the presence of light. Nictophobia is an irrational fear caused by a distorted and anticipatory perception of the dangers that lurk in the dark both in open environments (forest, street, field…) and in closed environments (bedroom, one’s own home, a parking lot, a storage room, an unfamiliar house, an unknown building…).
Nyctophobia can also be caused by trauma or a distressing experience such as an accident, abuse, violence, bad memories or a distorted view of darkness learned through stories of fear and terror, for example.
– Mikulas and Coffamn’s Darkness Behavior Log, which rates on a scale of zero to four whether you do things like: walk down a dark hallway, go to the bathroom at night and in the dark, turn off all the lights in the house, or enter spaces such as the parking lot, storage room or bedroom in the dark.

The broker

The protagonists of this one are Diane Stevens, a young New York painter whose husband is found dead on the banks of the river with a note of mafia overtones. And Kelly Harris, an African-American supermodel settled in Paris. Her husband throws himself off the Eiffel Tower.
We can’t talk about this book without mentioning GKI. GKI is a think tank, it’s a kind of private intelligence center that works to help governments and produce novel technologies. My explanation of think tanks is very poor, but the book explains it much better. And if we talk about GKI it is impossible not to mention the Kingsley brothers. I mentioned Tanner above and he is the youngest, the most ambitious, selfish, jealous and womanizer. And the eldest and founder of GKI is Andrew who was always brilliant, supportive and selfless. But he had an accident and since then he is not the same. From this Tanner took his place and turned GKI into what it is now.
After mentioning the girls, the Kingsleys and GKI it only remains to talk about the rest. As I told you in the beginning, You’re Afraid of the Dark is a hopeless conspiracy. Diane and Kelly are running for their lives throughout the novel and manage to save themselves thanks to their ingenuity and sometimes also their spontaneity. Two admirable protagonists. And while the antagonist/bad guy is not a surprise because Sheldon gives us his perspective, his story has the necessary explanations to try to understand him and has a surprise in store for us towards the end.

Morning, noon and night

This is the second work I’ve read by this master and I like it more and more. The theme of suspense and mystery I love, is one of my favorite genres besides the fantasy genre, but I think I said that a thousand times and well, no one cares hahaha
Let me tell you a little bit about Are you afraid of the dark? It all revolves around the death of four scientists from different parts of the world who supposedly died naturally but in a suspicious environment. How so? The relationship between the deceased and the geniuses of science is that they worked for Kingsley International Group, headed by Tanner Kingsley, a man who is obsessed with the climate changes that are taking place around the world.
Two women, widows of two of these men, Diane and Kelly are the main protagonists of this painful and horrible situation, which slowly turns into something terrifying: the murderer of their husbands is now after them too.
Between twists and turns and escaping more than once from near death, they discover the truth and I must say that it is amazing but at the same time creepy. In the last part of the book I had my heart in my mouth practically. There came a moment when I couldn’t believe what I was reading and I wanted to die, but if there is something I learned from books is that “Nothing is what it seems” so always read to the end and don’t jump to conclusions hahaha.

The sky is falling

In adults, and on most occasions, fear of the dark is associated with claustrophobia, since the person who feels this irrational fear of the dark, not being able to see anything, feels ‘locked in’ and thinks that it is impossible to try to escape from that place.
Subsequently, in the elderly, fear of death and fear of the dark can be linked, “since they use the moment of going to sleep to reflect on the proximity of death and this reflection takes place in the dark”, indicates the specialist in psychology.
Like any other phobia, if it is sustained over time and its intensity is overwhelming, it can have a great impact on the day-to-day life of the person who suffers from it, since the individual feels depressed, anxious and very nervous most of the time. When this happens it is the ideal time to ask for the help of a psychologist.
