Cami de ronda cadaques

Camí de ronda palamós

This is a very popular excursion from Cadaqués and starts from the village itself. The arrival at the lighthouse at the top of the cape is rewarded with spectacular views of nature and some coves in the surroundings. Below, I give you all the details so that you can prepare it and I leave you a video summary of the best of Cadaqués and its coastal paths.
Since June 11, 2021 the Cap de Creus is one of the four natural parks (along with Capçaleres del Ter i del Freser, Alt Pirineu and Delta de l’Ebre) with restricted access to combat overcrowding recorded during the pandemic. In the case of Cap de Creus, access by car on the road between Cadaqués and the Cap de Creus lighthouse is prohibited from 9:30 am to 8:00 pm from June 11 to September 30, except for service vehicles. Failure to comply with the restriction will result in a fine of 300 euros.
You can only access the park on foot, by bicycle or a twenty-minute shuttle buses with a price for the round trip of 8 € for adults. In Cadaqués there is a free parking lot with 120 parking spaces in the Corral d’en Morell from where the shuttles depart.

The coastal path route

The third nexus of union are the “caminos de ronda”. These paths were originally used for smuggling and are now hiking routes that link villages on the Costa Brava from Lloret to the French border. Along the way they also cross coves and pine forests. Cadaqués is a strategic town to walk through some of them since three paths start from there: the coastal path to the lighthouse of Cala Nans, the one that joins it with the lighthouse of Cabo de Creus to the north (and the hardest) and the one that joins it with Portlligat.
This coastal path does not have much more complication than finding the right path just in the section that starts from Portlligat. Otherwise it is a circular route of an hour and a half and somewhat longer than it may seem although it is simple. You walk almost all of it on a flat path by the sea (just the opposite of the coastal path to the Lighthouse of Cap de Creus). At some points it passes through urbanized areas (spectacular, by the way), but it is a good trail to enjoy nature and the views.

The barcelona coastal path

We go down to this small beach, where at the end we will see some formigó steps. It is the starting point of the coastal path, where we will find a plaque that we will find again and again later on. The path of earth and rock, continues along the sea. We will find some white stones that will help us to identify the coastal path further on. We make a detour and arrive at Pere Fet’s beach (00.30 am) (2,10 qm).
From this beach, of sand and small stones, there is a ladder to the bottom, which we will climb and follow along a wider path of land, where we will already have views of a rocky outcrop known as Es Cucurucuc. The road makes a turn and we will already have in front of us the small island of S’Arenella; we will pass in front of a small cove – S’Arenella-, and further on through another one, not very attractive. We are in a residential zone, the road is wide and we make another turn, and we pass by another beach, Sa Confitera (00.40 h) (2,63 qm).
This is the steepest and most complicated part of the way. From this house, we have the option of following the road downhill, or following the path that emerges from the outside of the house, following the coastal facade.

This trail offers fantastic views of the bay of Cadaqués and its famous silhouette. We recommend wearing comfortable shoes, optimal for rocky terrain, sun protection and enough water for hydration.
We start our way in the Central Beach of Cadaqués, we will take the Riba Pitxot, heading south, towards the Platja Port d’Alguer or Portdoguer, famous for the picture painted by Salvador Dalí in 1924, where its arches and the view of the imposing Church of Santa Maria of the XII century stand out.
We will continue our journey to the next beaches through the interior streets of this part of the village, until we reach the Platja de Llané Gran and Llané Petit, where the house where Salvador Dalí’s family spent the summer is located.
