Rayo president martín presa appears at a press conference.

Martín Presa arrived at Rayo in May 2011 and, since then, has celebrated three promotions with the Vallecano club. The first shortly after arriving, the second in 2018 and the third, which he describes as «the greatest achievement in the club’s history», a few days ago.
On a personal level, I have a good feeling about the work done because we have fulfilled a promise we had. The objective has been achieved in situations of maximum adversity with all that has been the pandemic, something that has a lot of merit, because during this time we have lost the first head or the first command of the club, who was my father, even above me. Getting to go up has been a success.
A: We are going to sit down with Iraola to clarify this issue and if we are on the same page, which we hope we are, he will renew, because the priority is him and the first thing is to talk to him. If he does not want to continue, or for whatever reason he does not continue, we will look for another option, because the club must always be above all, whether they are leaders, players or coaches.

And, in that line, we have moved. This summer we have had a series of discussions and pressures, both internal in the women’s first team, as well as external from the other 17 clubs, because we refused to start the competition until there was an established health protocol. This protocol was signed on September 14 and that same day in the afternoon we carried out PCR tests on all our players. The next day in the afternoon we started. We believe that health, all the people of our players, that some of them are unconscious and do not worry about it, and of the relatives who may be related to them, some elderly people…. Both health and life are far, far above any sporting competition or economic activity.
That is the line we have taken at Rayo and we are not going to abandon it. Other people, at a general level, are losing perspective of the situation we are in. Unfortunately, it seems to have become normalized, in this second wave, to have 400 deaths a day. That is a real barbarity and from Rayo we are going to take all the measures that we believe necessary to, from our humble contribution, try to limit as much as possible the transmission of this disease. And more so in a municipality like Madrid and a neighborhood like Vallecas, which have been areas that, due to the population density, have been very affected. This is non-negotiable. With health at stake there is no negotiation and whoever wants to can kick and scream. Above all, health must be protected.

Martín Presa did not take Rayo Vallecano’s defeat in Madrid against Girona (1-2) in the first leg of the playoff final very well. The president of the Rayo club charged in El Transistor (Onda Cero) against what he considers a regrettable attitude on the part of Francisco’s players.
«The tangana that has been mounted? It’s just that it’s a bit like Girona’s way of acting. Two months ago in the league match they played here, the Girona substitutes insulted the Rayo box from the stands». For Martín Presa «today (yesterday) Girona have studied Bilardo’s manual; they have played very little, they have cut our rhythm, it has been a very disrespectful attitude».
