For a long time I was convinced that the Camí de Ronda was only on the Costa Brava. Undoubtedly these are the most popular stretches. But what was my surprise when I found out that on the Costa Dorada there is also one!
This camí de ronda can be started at the Renfe train station (from Barcelona-Sants, lines R15 and R16 take you to Altafulla-Tamarit) So you have no excuse not to go if you don’t have a car. But I started it near the hotel, walking a little bit through Altafulla to see this beautiful medieval village: the Church of Sant Martí, the Castle, the Plaza del Pou and the wall.
Then, without going through the campsite, you can go along the rocks to reach the Cala La Móra. There you will have to take the road back inside the campsite to the Torre de La Móra, where we will leave again by the rocks and a narrow path between wall and trees.
We will continue parallel to the AP-7 freeway and then through some fields until we reach the Ferran Castle. An eleventh century castle that along with the river Gaia, were the boundary of the province of Barcelona with Al-Andalus. This castle is privately owned and cannot be visited.

The civilized life of Altafulla is that of the old fishermen’s quarter of the village (which rises up the hill, with its imposing castle). This strip of old fishermen’s huts now occupied by tourist apartments is a charming place, ideal for recharging batteries before starting to walk.
While working on the restoration, the modernist painter Ramon Casas stayed in the castle and slept in a room with a window from which you could see the entire beach of Altafulla, even the lighthouse. It is easy to imagine how he got the inspiration to paint his pictures.
From the highest rooms of the castle, you can see the beginning of the coastal path. It is a narrow path, zigzagging between pines and rocks, offering spectacular views at every turn. Sometimes the path is a constant up and down, other times it gives the walker a clearing in the forest, under the shade of the pines, where to rest or have a picnic.
The Torre de la Mora is an old watchtower that now gives its name to a campsite that was built just above the cliffs. The trail crosses the campsite on one side; it is a permitted passage for daily hikers.
