But, what is a via ferrata? It is a vertical or horizontal itinerary, equipped with diverse material, such as clamps, chains, suspension bridges…, which allow access to complicated or inaccessible areas for those not used to climbing. This, however, does not mean that they are routes that can be done without adequate material or preparation. On the contrary, they allow us to access places that would normally be out of our reach in a safe way. The first via ferrata was installed in Austria in the mid-nineteenth century, but it was during the World War when numerous passes were set up for the troops in the Dolomites, today a ferrata paradise.
We had the immense fortune to do the route completely alone, so there was time for photos, video and for Paola, from Guias de Guara, thanks for your patience, to give us many technical explanations that will help us for the next via ferratas, which we are sure there will be.

La vía ferrata se encuentra en el pueblo de Bierge a 58km de Huesca (Zaragoza: 133km). El cañón se encuentra antes del pueblo, para acceder a él habrá que desviarse en la Ermita de Sant Pedro y aparcar allí o en una zona más cercana (a 10 minutos del cañón).
El precio incluye el guía y todo el material necesario para realizar la actividad. La seguridad corre a cargo de un cable de acero instalado en todo el recorrido y el arnés equipado con un disipador de energía y mosquetones de seguridad.

It is one of the first routes of which I was aware of its existence and at the same time one of the last ones I was thinking of doing since I was getting sick just thinking about the 3 Tibetans on the Isuala river.
Almost without thinking about it we got down to work because I was not sure where to go that weekend and unwittingly I decided to go to Bierge because in case of backing out I could always go to Rodellar to do the ferrata of Espolón de la vírgen or Alquezar to relax by the Pasarelas del Vero.
The truth is that by passing bridges one loses the fear, but not to be less than other times, the night before I tried to pass the Tibetans in every possible way and all of them with the same end, calling 112, in the end they told me «but you again, next time your grandmother comes to get you».
When the moment of truth came, it was not so bad, but it seems to me that they all move a lot. Being alone, the wife (who left and only did the ferrata) and I, I retaliated by doing the route in both directions and once I saw the beauty of that corner I realized that in summer this must be an anthill of people. I was privileged to be able to be so quiet there.

We try our luck and approach the parking lot, where there is only one car, so we park and take a path that in a continuous descent, takes us to the riverbed and then to the beginning of the Tibetan bridges.
Just after finishing with the second one, the third one begins with a distance of 8 meters and that does not have a life cable, although it has an easy solution, since we can hook the carabiners to the handrails.
The best of all, without a doubt, are the Tibetan bridges, especially the second one, where in the middle of the route a lot of people move, if it were not for them, the ferrata is worth little, very short, without any difficulty, although with excellent views of Guara.
