Although it retains the gold medal in market capitalization, Amancio Ortega’s group has seen its capitalization shrink considerably during the coronavirus crisis while Inditex’s net profits plummeted quarter after quarter. Inditex’s high capitalization contrasts with the dividend yield on its shares, which is a far cry from that of companies such as Repsol or Bankia. This reflects the fact that investors are more than willing to pay for Inditex shares despite the low returns they will obtain in the long term through dividends.
