And, although in many cases, they are due to absent-mindedness and are solved with a modest financial penalty (100 euros, with possible reduction for prompt payment), in others, the thing can go much further and lead to loss of driving license points.
If we focus on the city, if a radar catches you between 21 and 30 km/h over the limit, you will lose 2 points; between 31 and 40 km/h, you will lose 4 points; and between 41 and 50 and from 51, you will lose 6 points (in this case, the difference lies in the financial fine, which amounts to 500 to 600 euros).
In the case of road sanctions, the margin is somewhat wider: between 31 and 40 km/h, two 2 points are lost; between 41 and 60 km/h, 4 points are subtracted; and between 61 and 70 and from 71, the loss is 6 points (again, the difference lies in the economic fine, which goes from 500 to 600 euros).
Fines for speeding in colombia
Fines for speeding are among the most common in our country, since there are more and more controls that regulate these infractions in order to reduce the accident rate on our roads.
The fines for exceeding the speed limits established on a given road depend on the type of road and the extent to which the limit is exceeded, since not all offenses are the same. Therefore, to calculate the amount of these fines and the withdrawal of points, the DGT has a fixed scale, which we will present in this article.
As you can see, the fines for speeding are differentiated between those for serious and very serious offenses. The serious ones are those in which the established speed limit is exceeded by up to 70 km/h, while those exceeding this speed will be considered very serious.
On the other hand, very serious infringements are those exceeding the permitted speed by more than 50 km/h in areas limited to 30 km/h, 40 km/h and 50 km/h, and by more than 70 km/h on roads where the maximum permitted speed is 60 km/h, 70 km/h, 80 km/h, 90 km/h, 100 km/h, 110 km/h, 120 km/h. In these cases the fine will consist of 600 euros and withdrawal of 6 license points.

However, as radars do not make exact measurements of the speed at which vehicles circulate, Traffic applies a margin of error before sanctioning a driver who presses the accelerator more than he should. This tolerance threshold is 7 kilometers per hour if the speed of the vehicle is less than 100 km/h and 7% if it is higher than this speed. The rule is contained in a DGT instruction published in 2015.
Traffic considers that the so-called rule of 7 from which the cinemometer is activated and hunts the vehicle that infringes the traffic rules represents «the most guaranteeing and beneficial tolerance threshold for the driver». The reason why this figure has been established, both in percentage and quantity, is because the maximum permissible errors of the DGT radars are in a range that goes from 3%, the newest ones, to 7% of the oldest ones.
Therefore, in the crossings with a speed limit of 50 km/h the radar will be triggered when a vehicle circulates at a speed equal to or higher than 58 km/h. On a freeway or dual carriageway, with a speed limit of 120 km/h, the speed camera will go off when the person driving a vehicle is traveling at a speed of 131 km/h or more.
