Recalling Council Directive 96/53/EC of 25 July 1996 laying down the maximum authorised dimensions in national and international traffic and the maximum authorised loads in international traffic for vehicles in circulation in the Community;
Having regard to the need to simplify and harmonize the procedures relating to the issue and control of special authorizations for the circulation of vehicles which, by virtue of their technical characteristics or the indivisible load they carry, exceed the maximum dimensions or masses laid down in national regulations, in accordance with Council Directive 96/53/EC of 25 July 1996;
This Agreement establishes a legal basis for the reciprocal recognition of special traffic authorizations issued by each Party in accordance with Council Directive 96/53/EC of 25 July 1996.
